Babyface Live In KL concert was totally F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

I wanted to update much earlier but was tired from lack of sleep and hectic, fulfilling few days! :)

I must must must say that I totally enjoyed the concert... totally. It was my first time watching a live show by Babyface and I was initially a little worried if he would just sing and not bothered much about his audience, the way many international singers do when they perform in our shores. And I was impressed at how engaging he was with his audience...

I had the opportunity to record some of his performances but it was no fun holding a piece of camera up when all I wanted to do was to enjoy and move my body. So, they weren't that very good videos. Still, I wished I had them all taped because watching it over and over again, I felt this rush of emotions that I wanted to just follow him to his every show wherever he went because he is that amazing.

I think many of us were truly mesmerised by his powerful vocals, energetic 2 1/2 hours of performance, how we can see the strong chemistry he had with his accompanying musicians and the best part was, he was truly truly funny. Yup, he cracked so many jokes that the show became something I am sure that all of us who went there, would definitely remember over and over again, forever. He had the charm and he had the aura. It was amazing, and I can't say that enough.

In fact, I've been talking about Babyface repeatedly over and over again to the one and watching the videos I took of his show again and again... so much so that the one has resorted to making fun of Babyface just to make me stop haha. But, to be fair to him, upon seeing the videos that night after the show, the one was totally blown away and this rocker-man suddenly said to me that he thinks he wants to also be a fan of Babyface. Yeayy!

He sang, "For The Cool In You" for his opening act and continued with "Everytime I Close My Eyes". After that, he made his show into a story of him... throughout the concert, he told us all how he first got inspired, who inspired him, how many times he fell in love and those people he fell in love with. It was also heartfelt when he shared with us his moments with the King of Pop, MJ and what he thought of MJ. He also vowed to pay tribute to MJ in his every concert and rendered, "Gone Too Soon", a song he co-wrote with MJ as a tribute to Lady Di. Funny that I had always thought the lyrics of the song actually felt like it was meant to be for MJ himself whenever I hear it played on my stereo...

So, his repertoire of songs that night consisted of songs from James Taylor and Eric Clapton, the two people who first inspired him and after that, he went on to singing his own songs. There wasn't any time wasted, he changed his guitars at every song that he needed to use it and sang non-stop. I guess the best part was when he sang a medley of all the hits he used to write for other singers like Bobbi Brown, Tevin Campbell, Boyz II Men and so many more, followed by a medley of his own songs. When it ended, the crowd was screaming for more.

He did my ultimate favourite song, "When Will I See You Again" as his encore. It was amazing and at the last part, even funny as he changed the lyrics a little to suggest hooking up with someone from the audience haha... only those who were there could really relate to how hillarious that moment was... and I hated when my memory card became full that I didn't get to record his encore til the end.

The last song made it all very memorable to me because that is my very favourite and I would always repeat it everytime I have his CD on my stereo. That was also a song I gave to the one during our courtship and it was such a good feeling to suddenly be overwhelmed with warm feelings of the past.

Anyways, he sang to a full crowd and ended with a standing ovation. I totally loved the show, I love Babyface and it's such a wonderful experience to be able to see him live. He's not just a singer-songwriter but he is a great performer and if he still sings 20 years down the road, I would still probably be this 'randy' woman that the one calls me haha...

thanks, nicole, for accepting my invite... we both became 'randy' together haha...

The show by Babyface is his first stop for his Asian tour (yeay to Malaysia!). I know many of my friends will catch his show tonight in Jakarta but we all saw him first haha...

To those of you who didn't get to make it to this awesome show, I shall leave you with this superb rendition from one of the songs in his medley of those he wrote for other singers. He sang so many of them and sounded even better than the original! There will be more videos that I shall be posting in my youtube channel but it has been a full weekend for me and that could only be done later. For now, this video kinda represents a lot about his show. Enjoy!

Thank you MAS for bringing him into our shores, thank you Nicole for being my date and of course, thank you to my beloved for allowing me to go to his concert while he stays home babysitting.

The opening act for the show was by an 18-year old who's performance was very easy to forget (if Simon Cowell were to say that) and some string of songs by Najwa. I enjoyed Najwa's performance too and I thought she deserved to be in that same stage as Babyface. I like her soulful jazzy songs and I am impressed with her strong vocals, sounding very 'black'... a very talented singer and very experienced on stage as well. So, I guess I shall be following her developments and see how far she goes.

I saw a few of our local artistes as well who attended the event, and especially that lovely Natasha Hudson. Tasha, if you're still reading me after the last 'event' a couple of years back, I have some good gossips that I know you would use to your benefit. But... then again, I shall keep that piece of 'news' for ransom... just leave me your personal email ;P

Ooohhh... I am in love..................
